Sh'mot 18:1 Now Yitro (Jethro), the priest of Midyan (Midian), Moshe's father-in-law, heard of all that G-d had done for Moshe and for Israel His people, how the L-RD had brought Israel out of Egypt.
The priest of Midyan - Remember the Midianites were descendants of Abraham through his wife Keturah.
We should also look at what Yeshua has done to take away our sin and eternal judgment from HaShem.
Sh'mot 18:2-7 And Yitro, Moshe's father-in-law, took Moshe's wife Tzipporah, after he had sent her away, and her two sons, of whom one was named Gershom, for he said, "I have been a sojourner in a foreign land." And the other was named Eliezer, for he said, "The G-d of my father was my help, and delivered me from the sword of Pharaoh." Then Yitro, Moshe's father-in-law, came with his sons and his wife to Moshe in the wilderness where he was camped, at the mount of G-d. And he sent word to Moshe, "I, your father-in-law Yitro, am coming to you with your wife and her two sons with her." Then Moshe's went out to meet his father-in-law, and he bowed down and kissed him; and they asked each other of their welfare, and went into the tent.
After he had sent her away - originally Moshe went back to Egypt with his wife and sons, it appears that he sent them back to Midyan before the nation was released.
Sh'mot (Exodus) 4:20 So Moshe took his wife and his sons and mounted them on a donkey, and he returned to the land of Egypt.
Gershom - means "foreigner there"
Eliezer - means "my G-d helps"
Moshe bowed down to his father-in-law in humility. The corresponding letter to this chapter Eighteen is Tzaddi - righteous; kneeling, standing-also humility.
Sh'mot 18:8 And Moshe told his father-in-law all that the L-RD had done to Pharaoh and to the Egyptians for Israel's sake, all the hardship that had befallen them on the journey, and how the L-RD had delivered them.
Imagine how excited Moshe must have been to tell his father-in-law about the mighty miracles that the L-rd preformed in Egypt. We should be excited to tell our families and others all that Yeshua has done for our sake and all the hardship He endured to deliver us.
Sh'mot 18:9 And Yitro rejoiced over all the goodness which the L-RD had done to Israel, in delivering them from the hand of the Egyptians.
Yitro rejoiced. Will you rejoice in what Yeshua has done?
