Sh'mot (Exodus) Chapter 33

Sh'mot 33:1-6 Then the L-RD spoke to Moshe, "Depart, go up from here, you and the people whom you have brought up from the land of Egypt, to the land of which I swore to Avraham, Yitz'chak, and Ya'akov, saying, 'To your descendants I will give it.' "And I will send an angel before you and I will drive out the Kena'ani (Canaanite), the Emori (Amorite), the Hitti (Hittite), the P'rizi (Perizzite), the Hivi (Hivite) and the Y'vusi (Jebusite). Go up to a land flowing with milk and honey; for I will not go up in your midst, because you are an obstinate people, lest I destroy you on the way." When the people heard this sad word, they went into mourning, and none of them put on his ornaments. For the L-RD had said to Moshe, "Say to the sons of Israel, 'You are an obstinate people; should I go up in your midst for one moment, I would destroy you. Now therefore, put off your ornaments from you, that I may know what I will do with you.'" So the sons of Israel stripped themselves of their ornaments from Mount Horev onward.

A land flowing with milk and honey - milk is symbolic of the word of G-d. We know that Yeshua is the word of G-d. Honey represents the sweet relationship we have with Yeshua.

Put off your ornaments - this was like being in sackcloth and ashes. It was a sign of mourning.

The angel that goes before them is Yeshua. He makes battle against their enemies even though many of the people were still obstinate against HaShem. In the future many will still be obstinate against HaShem because they will not believe in His Son. His Son, who we know as "the angel that went before the people", will again come out against their enemies and destroy them. They will then look upon him and see Him face to face and also mourn.

Z'kharyah (Zechariah) 14:1-11 Look, a day is coming for the L-RD when the spoil taken from you will be divided among you. For I will gather all the nations against Yerushalayim to battle, and the city will be captured, the houses plundered, the women ravished, and half of the city exiled, but the rest of the people will not be cut off from the city. Then the L-RD will go forth and fight against those nations, as when He fights on a day of battle. And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which is in front of Yerushalayim on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be split in its middle from east to west by a very large valley, so that half of the mountain will move toward the north and the other half toward the south. And you will flee by the valley of My mountains, for the valley of the mountains will reach to Azel; yes, you will flee just as you fled before the earthquake in the days of Uziyah (Uzziah) king of Judah. Then the L-RD, my G-d, will come, and all the holy ones with Him! And it will come about in that day that there will be no light; the luminaries will dwindle. For it will be a unique day which is known to the L-RD, neither day nor night, but it will come about that at evening time there will be light. And it will come about in that day that living waters will flow out of Yerushalayim, half of them toward the eastern sea and the other half toward the western sea; it will be in summer as well as in winter. And the L-RD will be king over all the earth; in that day the L-RD will be the only one, and His name the only one. All the land will be changed into a plain from Geva to Rimmon south of Yerushalayim; but Yerushalayim will rise and remain on its site from Binyamin's (Benjamin's) Gate as far as the place of the First Gate to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hanan'el to the king's wine presses. And people will live in it, and there will be no more curse, for Yerushalayim will dwell in security.

He will do what the leaders of the world could not. -Bring eternal peace on earth and in Yerushalayim.

Z'kharyah (Zechariah) 12:10-14 "Then I will pour out the spirit of grace and prayer on all the people of Yerushalayim. They will look on him they pierced, and mourn for him as for an only son, and grieve bitterly for him as for an oldest child who died. The sorrow and mourning in Yerushalayim at that time will be even greater than the grievous mourning for the godly King Josiah, who was killed in the valley of Megiddo. "All of Israel will weep in profound sorrow. The whole nation will be bowed down with universal grief-king, prophet, priest, and people. Each family will go into private mourning, husbands and wives apart, to face their sorrow alone.

The corresponding letter to this chapter is Kaf - crowning accomplishment;

Sh'mot 33:7-11 Now Moshe used to take the tent and pitch it outside the camp, a good distance from the camp, and he called it the tent of meeting. And it came about, that everyone who sought the L-RD would go out to the tent of meeting which was outside the camp. And it came about, whenever Moshe went out to the tent, that all the people would arise and stand, each at the entrance of his tent, and gaze after Moshe until he entered the tent. And it came about, whenever Moses entered the tent, the pillar of cloud would descend and stand at the entrance of the tent; and the L-RD would speak with Moshe. When all the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the entrance of the tent, all the people would arise and worship, each at the entrance of his tent. Thus the L-RD used to speak to Moshe face to face, just as a man speaks to his friend. When Moshe returned to the camp, his servant Y'hoshua, the son of Nun, a young man, would not depart from the tent.

It is interesting that they worshipped at the door of the tents. Remember that Yeshua is "the door" to the Father.

Yochanan (John) 10:7 Yeshua therefore said to them again, "Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.

Sh'mot 33:12-16 Then Moshe said to the L-RD, "See, You did say to me, 'Bring up this people!' But you yourself have not let me know to whom you will send with me. Moreover, You have said, 'I have known you by name, and you have also found favor in My sight.' "Now therefore, I pray to you, if I have found favor in your sight, let me know your ways, that I may know you, so that I may find favor in your sight. Consider too, that this nation is your people." And He said, "My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest." Then he said to Him, "If your presence does not go with us, do not lead us up from here. For how then can it be known that I have found favor in your sight, I and your people? Is it not by your going with us, so that we, I and your people, may be distinguished from all the other people who are upon the face of the earth?"

The cloud was a sign that HaShem was with Moshe. The cloud also came upon the Son, Yeshua, when He was with Kefa (Peter), Ya'akov (James), and Yochanan (John). The Father said, this is My Son with whom I am well pleased. Listen to Him. (See Matt 17:1-8)

2 Kefa (Peter) 1:16-21 For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our L-rd Yeshua HaMashiach, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty. For He received from G-d the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." And we heard this voice which came from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain. And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of G-d spoke as they were moved by Ruach HaKodesh (the Holy Spirit).
