Sh'mot (Exodus) Chapter 8

Sh'mot 8:1-7 Then the L-RD said to Moshe, "Go to Pharaoh and say to him, 'Thus says the L-RD," Let My people go, that they may serve Me. But if you refuse to let them go, look, I will smite your whole territory with frogs. And the Nile will swarm with frogs, which will come up and go into your house and into your bedroom and on your bed, and into the houses of your servants and on your people, and into your ovens and into your kneading bowls. So the frogs will come up on you and your people and all your servants."' " Then the L-RD said to Moshe, "Say to Aharon, 'Stretch out your hand with your staff over the rivers, over the streams and over the pools, and make frogs come up on the land of Egypt.'" So Aharon stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs came up and covered the land of Egypt. And the magicians did the same with their secret arts, making frogs come up on the land of Egypt.

This is the second plague. - This plague is directed against Heka (Heqt) the toad goddess. The Egyptians believed that frogs were sacred. If some one killed a frog they could face the death sentence. So G-d sent them more frogs than they could ever want in a lifetime. It was like saying, "so you love frogs more than Me... Let's see just how much you love them."

In the future, there will be those like frogs.

Revelation 16:12-16 And the sixth angel poured out his bowl upon the great river, the Euphrates; and its water was dried up, that the way might be prepared for the kings from the east. And I saw coming out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs; for they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the whole world, to gather them together for the war of the great day of G-d, the Almighty. ("Look, I am coming like a thief. Blessed is the one who stays awake and keeps his garments, lest he walk about naked and men see his shame.") And they gathered them together to the place, which in Hebrew is called Har-Megiddo.

Sh'mot 8:8-15 Then Pharaoh called for Moshe and Aharon and said, "Entreat the L-RD that He remove the frogs from me and from my people; and I will let the people go, that they may sacrifice to the L-RD." And Moshe said to Pharaoh, "The honor is yours to tell me: when shall I entreat for you and your servants and your people, that the frogs be destroyed from you and your houses, that they may be left only in the Nile?" Then he said, "Tomorrow." So he said, "May it be according to your word, that you may know that there is no one like the L-RD our G-d. And the frogs will depart from you and your houses and your servants and your people; they will be left only in the Nile." Then Moshe and Aharon went out from Pharaoh, and Moshe cried to the L-RD concerning the frogs which He had inflicted upon Pharaoh. And the L-RD did according to the word of Moshe, and the frogs died out of the houses, the courts, and the fields. So they piled them in heaps, and the land became foul. But when Pharaoh saw that there was relief, he hardened his heart and did not listen to them, as the L-RD had said.

Pharaoh was not a man of his word. He did not keep his promise to Moshe and Aharon.

Only the One true G-d knows what is in the future.

The corresponding letter to this chapter is Chet- new beginning; new life; a metaphysical letter above this existence.

This was more than just a physical battle. This was a spiritual battle between the forces of evil, which are the fallen angels (or His creation) and the Creator and maker of all things. The forces of evil cannot create but can only copy the Creator and are limited in their power. The Creator of the universe is limitless in His power and His knowledge and His existence. There is only one result for these forces now and in the future - defeat from HaShem. Each plague went against the gods that certain Egyptians worshipped. Some worship or follow these gods even today.

These gods are demons (fallen angels) and are not gods at all. We are to worship the creator and not the creation.

Romans 1:25 For they exchanged the truth of G-d for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
