Yechezk'el (Ezekiel) Chapter 30

Chapter 30 is a continuation of the prophecy against Egypt that started in chapter 29.

Yechezk'el 30:1-8 The "WORD" of the L-RD came again to me saying, "Son of man, prophesy and say, 'Thus says the L-rd G-D, "Wail, 'Alas for the day!' "For the day is near, even the day of the L-RD is near; it will be a day of clouds, a time of doom for the goyim (nations). "And a sword will come upon Egypt, and anguish will be in Ethiopia, when the slain fall in Egypt, They take away her wealth, and her foundations are torn down. "Ethiopia, Put, Lud, all Arabia, Libya, and the people of the land that is in league will fall with them by the sword." 'Thus says the L-RD, "Indeed, those who support Egypt will fall, And the pride of her power will come down; From Migdol to S'venah (Syene) They will fall within her by the sword," Declares the L-rd G-D. "And they will be desolate In the midst of the desolated lands; and her cities will be In the midst of the devastated cities. "And they will know that I am the L-RD, When I set a fire in Egypt and all her helpers are broken.

Day of the L-RD is near - This is an expression used for the tribulation period. We see above a short tem prophecy, which is fulfilled some years later, and then a long-term prophecy against Egypt in the future "day of the L-rd." This will happen just before He returns for His kingdom reign. At this time the word also states that all will know that He is the L-rd. (See Daniel 11:40; Ezekiel 38 & 39)) They will also have to go to Yerushalayim (Jerusalem) worship Him or there will be no rain.

"They will know that I am the L-rd" is mentioned again.

Zechariah 14:16-21 Then it will come about that any who are left of all the nations that went against Yerushalayim (Jerusalem) will go up from year to year to worship the King, the L-RD of hosts, and to celebrate the Feast of Booths. And it will be that whichever of the families of the earth does not go up to Yerushalayim (Jerusalem) to worship the King, the L-RD of hosts, there will be no rain on them. And if the family of Egypt does not go up or enter, then no rain will fall on them; it will be the plague with which the L-RD smites the nations who do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booths. This will be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all the nations who do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booths. In that day there will be inscribed on the bells of the horses, "HOLY TO THE L-RD." And the cooking pots in the L-rd's house will be like the bowls before the altar. And every cooking pot in Yerushalayim (Jerusalem) and in Y'hudah will be holy to the L-RD of hosts; and all who sacrifice will come and take of them and boil in them. And there will no longer be a Canaanite in the house of the L-RD of hosts in that day.

The corresponding letter to this chapter is Chet - new beginnings; new life; a metaphysical letter above this existence.

Yechezk'el 30:9-13 "On that day messengers will go forth from Me in ships to frighten secure Ethiopia; and anguish will be on them as on the day of Egypt; for, look, it comes!" 'Thus says the L-rd G-D, "I will also make the multitude of Egypt cease by the hand of N'vukhadretzar (Nebuchadnezzar) king of Bavel (Babylon). "He and his people with him, the most ruthless of the nations, Will be brought in to destroy the land; And they will draw their swords against Egypt and fill the land with the slain. "Moreover, I will make the Nile canals dry and sell the land into the hands of evil men. And I will make the land desolate, and all that is in it, by the hand of strangers; I, the L-RD, have spoken." 'Thus says the L-rd G-D,

"I will also destroy the idols and make the images cease from Nof (Memphis). And there will no longer be a prince in the land of Egypt; and I will put fear in the land of Egypt.

No longer a Pharaoh. No Idols or images any longer either.

Yechezk'el 30:14-19 "And I will make Patros (Pathros) desolate, set a fire in Tzo'an (Zoan), and execute judgments on No (Thebes). "And I will pour out My wrath on Seen (Sin), The stronghold of Egypt; I will also cut off the multitude of No (Thebes). "And I will set a fire in Egypt; Seen (Sin) will writhe in anguish, No (Thebes) will be breached, and Nof (Memphis) will have distresses daily. "The young men of On and of Pi-Veset (Pi-beseth) will fall by the sword, and the women will go into captivity. "And in T'chafn'ches (Tehaphnehes) the day will be dark when I break there the yoke bars of Egypt. Then the pride of her power will cease in her; a cloud will cover her, and her daughters will go into captivity. "Thus I will execute judgments on Egypt, and they will know that I am the L-RD."' "

The Egyptian cities named span the entire nation and reinforce the fact that judgment would come on the entire nation.

Yechezk'el 30:20-26 And it came about in the eleventh year, in the first month, on the seventh of the month, that the word of the L-RD came to me saying, "Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and, look, it has not been bound up for healing or wrapped with a bandage, that it may be strong to hold the sword. "Therefore, thus says the L-rd G-D, 'Look, I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt and will break his arms, both the strong and the broken; and I will make the sword fall from his hand. 'And I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and disperse them among the lands. 'For I will strengthen the arms of the king of Bavel (Babylon) and put My sword in his hand; and I will break the arms of Pharaoh, so that he will groan before him with the groanings of a wounded man. 'Thus I will strengthen the arms of the king of Bavel (Babylon), but the arms of Pharaoh will fall. Then they will know that I am the L-RD, when I put My sword into the hand of the king of Bavel (Babylon) and he stretches it out against the land of Egypt. 'When I scatter the Egyptians among the nations and disperse them among the lands, then they will know that I am the L-RD.'

"They will know that I am the L-rd" is mentioned again. It is only when judgment is poured out that the Egyptians will know that the L-rd is G-d.
