Yechezk'el (Ezekiel) Chapter 4

Yechezk'el 4:1-3 "Now you son of man, get yourself a brick, place it before you, and inscribe a city on it, Yerushalayim. "Then lay siege against it, build a siege wall, raise up a ramp, pitch camps, and place battering rams against it all around. "Then get yourself an iron plate and set it up as an iron wall between you and the city, and set your face toward it so that it is under siege, and besiege it. This is a sign to the house of Israel.

This was to be a sign to Israel, Yerushalayim being attacked and under siege by Babylon. Ezekiel would become a type of Messiah. He would take upon himself the consequence of the iniquity of Israel at this time. Yeshua would lay on his side in the tomb for three days and rise again. This fact would too be a sign to Israel that He was the Messiah. (See Matt. 5:39-40)

Romans 1:2-4 He promised beforehand through His prophets in the holy Scriptures, concerning His Son, who was born of a descendant of David according to the flesh, who was declared the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Yeshua HaMashiach our Lord,

Also interesting is that fact that He would bear our sins for three more millenniums after his death and rising again. A day is as one thousand years to the L-rd in a higher understanding.

The following passage is referring to Yeshua HaMashiach.

Yesha'yahu (Isaiah) 53:6 All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the L-RD has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on Him.

Through Yechezk'el 's concern for Israel, he would have to do certain things to reach Israel for HaShem.

His actions were symbolic of what would happen to Israel. He would also suffer certain things through these actions. We also see a similar theme throughout the Bible, the people of the Bible and their actions pointing to the Messiah Yeshua.

Yechezk'el is prophetically showing Israel the coming siege. Each day he laid down would represent one year. He would lie on his left side for three hundred and ninety days representing three hundred and ninety years.

The corresponding letter to this chapter is Dalet-door; way; symbol of dimensions and concern.

Yechezk'el 4:4-8 "As for you, lie down on your left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel on it; you shall bear their iniquity for the number of days that you lie on it. "For I have assigned you a number of days corresponding to the years of their iniquity, three hundred and ninety days; thus you shall bear the iniquity of the house of Israel. "When you have completed these, you shall lie down a second time, but on your right side, and bear the iniquity of the house of Judah; I have assigned it to you for forty days, a day for each year. "Then you shall set your face toward the siege of Yerushalayim with your arm bared, and prophesy against it. "Now behold, I will put ropes on you so that you cannot turn from one side to the other, until you have completed the days of your siege.

He laid on his right side for the iniquity of Y'hudah for forty days representing forty years. This totaled 430 days representing four hundred and thirty years.

Originally G-d has allowed Israel to go into captivity for seventy years.

Yirmeyahu (Jeremiah) 25:11 'And this whole land shall be a desolation and a horror, and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

This period officially ended in 536 B.C. Some did return to Israel at this time, however the majority did not.

However, we see here in Yechezk'el that G-d gives an additional judgment against Israel, totaling 430 years. Now if we subtract off the initial 70 years we are left with 360 years additional years that Israel would have to spend in exile living among the gentile nations.

Because Israel did not repent of their sins, the situation got worse.

In Vayikra (Leviticus) chapter 26 Israel was told that if she did not t'shuvah (repent) for her sins, that her punishment would be multiplied by seven. This is stated this 4 times in this chapter.

Vayikra (Leviticus) 26:21 'If then, you act with hostility against Me and are unwilling to obey Me, I will increase the plague on you seven times according to your sins.

This meant that Israel would live without being an independent nation for 360 X 7 = 2,520 years. When we do any calculations with dates from the Bible we must keep in mind that a Biblical year is 360 days. This is a total of 907,200 days. Next we need to convert this into our calendar years so we divide by 365.25. We get 2,483.8 calendar years. Then we begin to count forward in time to discover when this prophecy would be fulfilled. We need to keep in mind that there was no year 0. Counting forward, this brings us to the spring of 1948 AD. Hmmm.... isn't this interesting!?!?! What event in modern history occurred then? THE REBIRTH OF THE NATION OF ISRAEL! May 14, 1948 Israel was "raised again" just like the Messiah. (For more details see "The Signature of G-d, by Grant Jeffrey)

Israel is another type of Messiah Yeshua. This was also predicted in Yechezk'el (Ezekiel) chapter 37.

Yechezk'el 4:9 "But as for you, take wheat, barley, beans, lentils, millet and spelt, put them in one vessel and make them into bread for yourself; you shall eat it according to the number of the days that you lie on your side, three hundred and ninety days.

We see Yechezk'el had a special diet. Today one can buy Ezekiel 4:9 bread in some stores. It is very nutritious.
