Yechezk'el (Ezekiel) Chapter 8

Yechezk'el 8:1-4 And it came about in the sixth year, on the fifth day of the sixth month, as I was sitting in my house with the elders of Y'hudah sitting before me, that the "HAND" of the L-rd G-D fell on me there. Then I looked, and look, a likeness as the appearance of a man; from His loins and downward there was the appearance of fire, and from His loins and upward the appearance of brightness, like the appearance of glowing metal. And He stretched out the form of a hand and caught me by a lock of my head; and the Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven and brought me in the visions of G-d to Yerushalayim (Jerusalem), to the entrance of the north gate of the inner court, where the seat of the idol of jealousy, which provokes to jealousy, was located. And look, the glory of the G-d of Israel was there, like the appearance which I saw in the plain.

The corresponding letter to this chapter is Chet -new beginnings; new life; a metaphysical letter above this existence.

The right hand of the L-rd is Yeshua. Notice He is described as having the appearance of a man and His loins have the appearance of fire and brightness and glowing metal. We can also see this same kind of description of Yeshua in Revelation. He has the keys to let one loose to new life.

Revelation 1:12-19 And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands; and in the middle of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed in a robe reaching to the feet, and girded across His breast with a "GOLDEN" girdle. And His head and His hair were white like white wool, like snow; and His eyes were like a flame of FIRE; and His feet were like burnished bronze, when it has been caused to glow in a furnace, and His voice was like the sound of many waters. And in His right hand He held seven stars; and out of His mouth came a sharp two-edged sword; and His face was LIKE the "SUN" shining in its strength. And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as a dead man. And He laid His right hand upon me, saying, "Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last, and the living One; and I was dead, and look, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and of Hades.(sheol)

He shins like the sun but is not the sun. The sun's brightness pales in comparison to His brightness. Saul found this out on his way to Damascus and was given a new task to complete.

Acts 26:12-16 "While thus engaged as I was journeying to Damascus with the authority and commission of the chief priests, at midday, O King, I saw on the way a light from heaven, "BRIGHTER THAN THE SUN", shining all around me and those who were journeying with me. "And when we had all fallen to the ground, I heard a voice saying to me in the Hebrew dialect, 'Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.' "And I said, 'Who are you, L-rd?' And the L-rd said, 'I am Yeshua whom you are persecuting. 'But arise, and stand on your feet; for this purpose I have appeared to you, to appoint you a spokes person and a witness not only to the things which you have seen, but also to the things in which I will appear to you; NAS

Yechezk'el 8:5-6 Then He said to me, "Son of man, raise your eyes, now, toward the north." So I raised my eyes toward the north, and look, to the north of the altar gate was this idol of jealousy at the entrance. And He said to me, "Son of man, do you see what they are doing, the great abominations which the house of Israel are committing here, that I should be far from My sanctuary? But yet you will see still greater abominations."

Idol of jealousy - This is not saying that the idol was to the god of jealousy; it is referring to the command given by G-d not to have idols.

Sh'mot (Exodus) 20:4-6 "You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the L-RD your G-d, am a jealous G-d, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

Urijah the priest moved an idol directly in front of Ha Shem's own altar.

M'lakhim Bet (2 Kings) 16:11-14 So Urijah the priest built an altar; according to all that King Ahaz had sent from Damascus, thus Urijah the priest made it, before the coming of King Ahaz from Damascus. And when the king came from Damascus, the king saw the altar; then the king approached the altar and went up to it, and burned his burnt offering and his meal offering, and poured his libation and sprinkled the blood of his peace offerings on the altar. And the bronze altar, which was before the L-RD, he brought from the front of the house, from between his altar and the house of the L-RD, and he put it on the north side of his altar.

In the future we may see the next Temple right next to the dome of the rock and the Al Asque Mosque. I hope we do not see such a thing. The false prophet will set up an image of the Anti-Messiah in the future temple before the Anti-Messiah declares "himself" to be god.

Revelation 13:11-18 And I saw another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spoke as a dragon. And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence. And he makes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose fatal wound was healed. And he performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down out of heaven to the earth in the presence of men. And he deceives those who dwell on the earth because of the signs which it was given him to perform in the presence of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who had the wound of the sword and has come to life. And there was given to him to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast might even speak and cause as many as do not worship the image of the beast to be killed. And he causes all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves, to be given a mark on their right hand, or on their forehead, and he provides that no one should be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for the number is that of a man; and his number is six hundred and sixty-six.
