Hebrews Introduction

Hebrews corresponds to the Hebrew letter “koph.” J.R Church states this in his book “The Mystery of the Menorah and the Hebrew Alphabet.”

The letter stands for “holiness” and “growth cycles”. It speaks of G-d’s “Kedusha” or “holiness”. In the redemptive plan of G-d there are cycles beginning in Genesis.

A fallen nature

Fall of mankind through Adam:

In the beginning it was not our nature to sin. The Torah says G-d created man to be perfect giving us a free will capable of complete obedience. G-d pronounced all the work of his hands "very good." Then a few chapters later we find murder and jealousy. Something went wrong by Adam's choice. Adam’s sin nature was passed on to his descendants. We are all born into sin and need to be saved from our sin. Disobedience comes naturally to our children.

Isaiah 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way;

It came through Adam, which requires restoration only through the Son who is called the second Adam. It is through one man’s sin that the sin nature came. It is therefore through the actions of one man that redemption from sin comes to all who choose to believe. So we continue our cycle to our perfect lamb without blemish. A type that points to Yeshua as our salvation which goes ahead, before, us and will one day bring us to perfection in the Messianic reign. Isaiah spoke of how G-d would be our salvation.. (Isa. 43:10; 45:15; 60:16)

In view of the “Cycles” we will one day return to a paradise above in the Messianic era. (The word Eden (Hebrew) means a place of delight or pleasure; in the (Greek) the word is Paradise. :~) )

In order for Adam and Eve to be clothed with animal skins an animal was sacrificed. It was a shadow of things to come. Yeshua is our lamb that leads us to restoration back to the garden above.

No one is sure who wrote Hebrews. Some think Paul (Shaul) wrote it.

The book of Hebrews answers the question, why did Yeshua have to ascend?

Prov 30:4 Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell?

This was a Messianic prophecy. Yeshua’s ascending but his descending yet to be fulfilled. He has yet to fulfill some things, yet it is declared fulfilled because that is how G-d states all things. AS IF THEY ALREADY WERE FULFILLED! HE IS OUT OF TIME!

His future descending also mentioned in Zech 14.

Zechariah 14:3-4 Then shall the L-RD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. (KJV)

This is a messianic prophecy and from it we learn that the Messiah is G-d.

The prophecy gets “Cut Off” after his ascension similar to the Messiah getting “Cut Off” as described in Daniel 9. This is interesting in the fact that the Scripture of the Bible has also been “Cut Off” between the Tanakh and B’rit Hadashah. The Bible was cut off…. only silence for many years, then the Word continues. Interesting by the fact that Yeshua HaMashiach who is considered and called the Word by John is also cut off.

Not only is this pattern seen when we look at His ascending to heaven to His descending. This pattern of cutting scripture in parts happens in other places as well. Yeshua himself spoke part of Isaiah 61:1-2 part of the verse in the synagogue he was to fulfill. He stopped speaking cutting the verse off before continuing to finish the rest of the prophecy.

Isaiah 61:1-2 The Spirit of the L-rd G-D is upon me; because the L-RD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the L-RD… (KJV)

Luke 4:18-19 The Spirit of the L-rd is upon me, because He hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; He hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the L-rd.

And He closed the book, and He gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on Him. And He began to say unto them, this day this scripture is fulfilled in your ears.

The rest of Isaiah 61:2 has yet to be fulfilled by Him. Isaiah 61:2 “and the day of vengeance of our G-d” This will occur at His second coming. I wonder if He will finish His reading the verse that day.

If we look at the Tanakh we also have the statement of “I am” that “I am”. Yeshua continues the sentence with “I am … the bread of life and many other statements. I am … the good shepherd. I am … the light. I am ….the door.

So why did He ascend? We will see.

Hebrews has been called the fifth gospel because it speaks of what He is doing after His time on earth.
