John 3:1-3 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Yeshua (Jesus) by night, and said to him, Rabbi, we know that you art a teacher come from G-d: for no man can do these miracles that you do, except G-d be with him. Yeshua (Jesus) answered and said to him, Verily, verily, I say to you, except a man be born again; he cannot see the kingdom of G-d.
Nicodemus (Nikdimon) was a ruler of the Jewish people.
He realized no one could do these signs unless G-d was with him.
Notice Nicodemus said, “we know”, Yeshua must have been the subject of many conversations among the Pharisees.
Also he came at night. Possibly he did this to avoid being seen by his colleagues. Or perhaps the crowds around Yeshua during the day made a private conversation with Him next to impossible.
Yeshua, being G-d, knew Nicodemus’s heart. He cut right to heart of the matter and told Nicodemus. Unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of G-d.
John 3:4 Nicodemus said to Him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
John 3:5 Yeshua (Jesus) answered, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a man be born of water and of Ruach HaKodesh (the Spirit), he cannot enter into the kingdom of G-d.
Unless one is born of water (natural birth) and the Spirit (birth of Ruach HaKodesh.
John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Born of flesh is flesh. Spirit is Spirit. Circumcision is of the flesh. This is speaking of the circumcision of the heart and it is of the Spirit. Those who do follow the Messiah are then Messiah-observant. We follow Him and desire to please Him and are under Him. Faith is trusting-obedience. If you are obedient to Him you are obedient to the Father.
John 3:7-8 "Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.' "The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of Ruach HaKodesh (the Spirit)."
John 3:9-10 Nicodemus answered and said to him, How can these things be? Yeshua (Jesus) answered and said to him, Are you a master of Israel, and don’t know these things?
Yeshua said, “You are a teacher to Israel and you don’t understand?
It should have been obvious that Yeshua was who He claimed to be based on the Tanakh.
John 3:11-12 Verily, verily, I say to you, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and you receive not our witness. If I have told you earthly things, and you believe not, how shall you believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
If you do not believe Yeshua was here and He did what He did, which was witnessed by all. Why would you believe about the new Spiritual birth, which is from heaven or heavenly things?
John 3:13 No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven-the Son of Man.
As we have stated, Yeshua was from above for He is G-d in the flesh.
Just as the women lights the candle on Shabbat we come to realize that this is symbolic of a woman chosen to be a vessel to bring light to the world, Yeshua being this light.
He has descended and has ascended and will descend again. (This was also foreseen in Daniel 7:13-14)
John 3:14 And as Moshe (Moses) lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
When Moshe lifted up the serpent in the wilderness it was symbolic and a type of the Son of man (Yeshua) being lifted up.
Numbers 21:9. “And Moshe made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.”
We are all bitten with sin, if we look to Yeshua on the execution stake, we will live on spiritually with the Father.
John 3:15 That whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.
John 3:16 For G-d so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Perish - eternal separation from G-d.
John 3:17 For G-d sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.
He was not sent by the Father 2,000 years ago to judge but to save.
John 3:18 He that believes on Him is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of G-d.
We are judged in regard to our spiritual destination. Those who do not believe have been judged already. We all have received the curse of sin from Adam and will remain spiritually dead unless we trust in the atoning power of the death of His Son.
