Yonah (Jonah) Chapter 2 (Continued)

Yonah 2:8 They that observe lying vanities (Idolatry) forsake their own mercy.

Pride can be an idol. In the case of the good news, trying to receive eternal blessings from the Father by rejecting His plan and trying to make our own way from lack of fear of Adonai or lack of humility in ourselves is a path that leads to eternal separation from the Father. Love of your will and love of yourself becomes idolatry of self. Why have a spiritual need for the Messiah back then? Why have a need for a spiritual need for the Messiah today? Why do we need the spiritual plan of Adonai at all, If, for instance, your actions alone can make you eternally acceptable? Self will - above the will of Adonai. If you place your way and path contrary to the plan of Adonai (through His Son) you will be found wanting and you are headed for eternal destruction. That is not the will of Adonai. It can be your will that separates you from Adonai forever. We all have a choice we can follow His WORD or not to follow His WORD.

Yonah 2:9 But I will sacrifice to you with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay what I have vowed. Salvation comes from Adonai!

Wow, what a picture of Yeshua HaMashiach in the tomb!

Some believed that the death of Yeshua was just because they did not believe He was not the Son of Adonai. For some lack of faith (trusting-obedience) keeps them from His plan. This is sad in the eyes of Adonai. For Adonai requires faith in His Son and He meant it for the good of all.

Hab 2:4 "Behold, as for the proud one, His soul is not right within him; But the righteous will live by his faith.

Heb 11:1-3 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the men of old received divine approval. By faith we understand that the world was created by the word of Adonai, so that what is seen was made out of things which do not appear. RSV

1 John 5:4-5 For whatever is born of G-d overcomes the world; and this is the victory that overcomes the world, our FAITH. Who is it that overcomes the world but he who believes that Yeshua is the Son of G-d? RSV

Heb 11:13-16 All these died in faith, without receiving the promises, but having seen them and having welcomed them from a distance, and having confessed that they were strangers and exiles on the earth. For those who say such things make it clear that they are seeking a country of their own. And indeed if they had been thinking of that country from which they went out, they would have had opportunity to return. But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore G-d is not ashamed to be called their G-d; for He has prepared a city for them.

Heb 11:32-40 And what more shall I say? For time will fail me if I tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets, who by faith conquered kingdoms, performed acts of righteousness, obtained promises, shut the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight. Women received back their dead by resurrection; and others were tortured, not accepting their release, so that they might obtain a better resurrection; and others experienced mockings and scourgings, yes, also chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were tempted, they were put to death with the sword; they went about in sheepskins, in goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, ill-treated (men of whom the world was not worthy), wandering in deserts and mountains and caves and holes in the ground. And all these, having gained approval through their faith, did not receive what was promised, because G-d had provided something better for us, so that apart from us they would not be made perfect.

Eternal salvation comes from Adonai because He sent His Son. If you see the Son you see Adonai. Yeshua could have said, I do not wish to follow the will of the Father.

What did Yonah vow? To go to Nineveh!

What did Yeshua vow? That He would come down from above to pay the cost for our sins and that He would arise after three days and nights just as Yonah.

What should we vow? We can choose to follow the will of Adonai or not follow the will of Adonai.

Tell others about Yeshua the Messiah and the Son of Adonai to the whole world.

Matt 24:14-17 "And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world for a witness to all the nations, and then the end shall come. Therefore when you see the abomination of desolation which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains; let him who is on the housetop not go down to get the things out that are in his house; NAS

He prepares a place for us.

John 14:1-4 Let not your heart be troubled: you believe in G-d, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.

Some believers even vow to teach believers that they are under the law.

1 Tim 1:3-11 As I urged you upon my departure for Macedonia, remain on at Ephesus, in order that you may instruct certain men not to teach strange doctrines, nor to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies, which give rise to mere speculation rather than furthering the administration of G-d which is by Faith. But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. For some men, straying from these things, have turned aside to fruitless discussion, wanting to be teachers of the Law, even though they do not understand either what they are saying or the matters about which they make confident assertions. But we know that the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully, realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous man, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching, according to the glorious gospel (good news) of the blessed G-d, with which I have been entrusted. NAS

Yonah preached the law to the rebellious and sinners because they to needed to know they are sinners and also need a Savior. Once we are aware of our sin, our tutor is now the Messiah.

Gal 3:18-22 For if the inheritance is based on law, it is no longer based on a promise; but G-d has granted it to Abraham by means of a promise. Why the Law then? It was added because of transgressions, having been ordained through angels by the agency of a mediator, until the seed should come to whom the promise had been made. Now a mediator is not for one party only; whereas G-d is only one. Is the Law (instruction) then contrary to the promises of G-d? May it never be! For if a law had been given which was able to impart life, then righteousness would indeed have been based on law. But the Scripture has shut up all men under sin, that the promise by Faith in Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus Christ) might be given to those who believe. NAS

Gal 3:23-27But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the law, being shut up to the faith which was later to be revealed. Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Messiah (Christ), that we may be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. For you are all sons of G-d through faith in Yeshua HaMashiach (Christ Jesus). For all of you who were baptized (immersed) into Messiah (Christ) have clothed yourselves with Messiah (Christ). NAS

Gal 3:11-13Now that no one is justified (eternally) by the Law before G-d is evident; for, " The righteous man shall live by faith. " However, the Law is not of faith; on the contrary, "He who practices them shall live by them." NAS

Guard against those that teach otherwise:

1 Tim 6:20-21 O Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you, avoiding worldly and empty chatter and the opposing arguments of what is falsely called "KNOWLEDGE"-- which some have professed and thus GONE ASTRAY from the FAITH. Grace be with you. NAS

2 Tim 3:13-17 But evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them; and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to (eternal) salvation through FAITH which is in CHRIST(MESSIAH) YESHUA.

All Scripture is inspired by Adonai and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 that the man of G-d may be adequate, equipped for every good work. NAS

Yonah 2:10 And Adonai spoke to the fish, and it vomited out Yonah upon the dry land.

Yonah finally finds rest, physical and spiritual, after turning away from his wrong way, and turning to faith (trusting-obedience) through the mercy of HaShem.
