Shof'tim (Judges) Chapter 10

The corresponding letter to this chapter is Yod – a metaphysical letter and Divine letter meaning hand –the right hand of G-d.

Shof’tim 10:1-2 Now after Avimelekh died, Tola the son of Pu’ah, the son of Dodo, a man of Yissakhar, arose to save Israel; and he lived in Shamir in the hill country of Efrayim. And he judged Israel twenty-three years. Then he died and was buried in Shamir.

Shof’tim 10:3-5 And after him, Yair from Gil’ad arose, and judged Israel twenty-two years. And he had thirty sons who rode on thirty donkeys, and they had thirty cities in the land of Gil’ad that are called Havot-Yair to this day. And Yair died and was buried in Kamon.

Boy, Tola was judge for 23 years and Yair was judge for 22 years and neither of them have much said about them. What happened during that 45 years? Some of our past presidents are like that. No one remembers them. This should cause us to stop and examine ourselves. When we have gone on to the other world what will we be remember for? Will it be something that counts for all eternity? I certainly hope so.

Shof’tim 10:6-7 Then the sons of Israel again did evil in the sight of the L-RD, served the Baals and the Ashtarot, the gods of Aram, the gods of Tzidon, the gods of Mo’av, the gods of the sons of ‘Amon, and the gods of the P’lishtim; thus they forsook the L-RD and did not serve Him. And the anger of the L-RD burned against Israel, and He sold them into the hands of the P’lishtim, and into the hands of the sons of ‘Amon.

The L-rd allowed them to be sold into the hands of the P’lishtim and others. They were still in the L-rd’s hands but He allowed it to happen.

Shof’tim 10:8-16 And they afflicted and crushed the sons of Israel that year; for eighteen years they afflicted all the sons of Israel who were beyond the Yarden in Gil’ad in the land of the Amorites. And the sons of ‘Amon crossed the Yarden to fight also against Y’hudah, Binyamin, and the house of Efrayim, so that Israel was greatly distressed. Then the sons of Israel cried out to the L-RD, saying, "We have sinned against You, for indeed, we have forsaken our G-d and served the ba’alim." And the L-RD said to the sons of Israel, "Did I not deliver you from the Egyptians, the Emorim, the sons of ‘Amon, and the P’lishtim? "Also when the people of Tzidon, the Amalek and the Ma’on oppressed you, you cried out to Me, and I delivered you from their hands. Yet you have forsaken Me and served other gods; therefore I will deliver you no more. Go and cry out to the gods which you have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your distress." And the sons of Israel said to the L-RD, "We have sinned, do to us whatever seems good to You; only please deliver us this day." So they put away the foreign gods from among them, and served the L-RD; and He could bear the misery of Israel no longer.

He cares for the apple of His eye and when they are in misery, He is in misery. The same thing will happen in the future. Israel as a nation has turned away from following HaShem and many have forgotten Him. Nations will continue to rise up against them and then they will cry out to Him. He will then come to destroy the nations that go against Israel. The Messiah Yeshua will destroy them. He will also judge all the nations and separate the goats on the left hand and the sheep to the right hand.

Mattityahu 25:31-46 "But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. "And all the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; and He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on the left. "Then the King will say to those on His right, 'Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 'For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.' "Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You drink? 'And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? 'And when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?' "And the King will answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.' "Then He will also say to those on His left, 'Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry, and you gave Me nothing to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me nothing to drink; I was a stranger, and you did not invite Me in; naked, and you did not clothe Me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit Me.' "Then they themselves also will answer, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not take care of You?' "Then He will answer them, saying, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.' "And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

What about those that keep others from our future king and kingdom? What about those that keep us from the water that will never make us thirst again and springs up into everlasting life?

Yochanan 4:13-15 Yeshua answered and said to her, "Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life." The woman said to Him, "Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw."

What about those that keep us from the bread of life so we will not hunger?

Yochanan 6:35 Yeshua said to them, "I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me shall not hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.

What about those that try to keep us naked for eternity?

2 Corinthians 5:1-4 For we know that if the earthly tent which is our house is torn down, we have a building from G-d, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For indeed in this house we groan, longing to be clothed with our dwelling from heaven; inasmuch as we, having put it on, shall not be found naked. For indeed while we are in this tent, we groan, being burdened, because we do not want to be unclothed, but to be clothed, in order that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.

Without the Messiah Yeshua you are also naked.

Galatians 3:26-27 For you are all sons of G-d through faith in Yeshua HaMashiach. For all of you who were immersed into Messiah have clothed yourselves with Messiah.

What about it?

Woe to them. One day they will be separated from the sheep.

Mattityahu 23:13 "Woe to you, Pharisees, and you other religious leaders. Hypocrites! For you won't let others enter the Kingdom of Heaven and won't go in yourselves.

Luke 11:52 "Woe to you experts in religion! For you hide the truth from the people. You won't accept it for yourselves, and you prevent others from having a chance to believe it."

Shof’tim 10:17-18 Then the sons of ‘Amon were summoned, and they camped in Gil’ad. And the sons of Israel gathered together, and camped in Mizpah. And the people, the leaders of Gil’ad, said to one another, "Who is the man who will begin to fight against the sons of ‘Amon? He shall become head over all the inhabitants of Gil’ad."

Who is the man that will fight against the nations for Israel in the future? Surely you know. He will become head over all of Israel and the world for a thousand year reign.
