Matthew Chapter 16 (Continued)

Matt 16:19 And I will give to you the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever you will bind on earth will be bound in heaven: and whatsoever you will loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

We have the key to getting to the other world. If we donít give the Word out it will not lead others to heaven. If we loose the Word on earth, it may lead others to the other world.

We all have different kinds of keys that will open different things. Only one key will open our car door. In the same manner there is only one kind of key or faith that will open the way to the other world. There is intellectual faith, which is: believing in Yeshua as you would believe in George Washington. You can intellectually believe in Yeshua that still is not the kind of faith we are talking about here.

Saving Faith is trusting in the blood of Yeshua that it will take away your sin. How is this?

When we sit in a chair, we place faith in the chair that it will hold us up. This is like saving faith or trust. Instead in this case we place our trust in the blood of Yeshua, that it will take away our sin. All we have to do is confess our sin and declare our belief (with a sincere heart) to the Father that He sent His Son to die for us. This is the key that opens the door to eternal life. We are to declare this to others on earth. Those that listen to this command will be given access to the other world. Just tell the Father:

Father, I ask that you forgive me of my sins. I trust in the blood of your Son to take away this sin. I give my life to you and thank you for your mercy.

Matt 16:20-21 Then He charged His disciples that they should tell no man that He was Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus the Messiah.) From that time forth began Yeshua (Jesus) to show to His disciples, how He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

Yeshua begins to fully reveal the Fathers plan to them.

Matt 16:22-23 Then Peter took Him, and began to rebuke Him, saying, Be it far from you, L-rd: this will not happen to you. But He turned, and said to Peter, Get behind me, Satan: You are an offence to Me: for You savor not the things that are of G-d, but those that are of men.

Yeshua had to die once out of necessity!!!

Matt 16:24 Then said (Yeshua) Jesus to His disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross (execution stake), and follow me.

We are to be willing to sacrifice all that we can to follow Yeshua and therefore the Father.

Matt 16:25-28 For whosoever will save his life will lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake will find it. For what is a man profited, if he will gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of man will come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he will reward every man according to his works. Verily I say to you, There be some standing here, which will not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

This could be two different events:

The transfiguration, which is covered in the next chapter: Peter, James, and John were eyewitnesses of that event.

Notice how Peter describes it.

2 Peter 1:16-18 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known to you the power and coming of our L-rd Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus Christ), but were eyewitnesses of His majesty. For He received from G-d the Father honor and glory, when there came such a voice to Him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. And this voice, which came from heaven, we heard, when we were with Him in the holy mount.

He could also be talking about John. John would see a vision of the Second coming when he was given the Revelation of Yeshua.

Rev 1:10 I was in the Spirit on the L-rd's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,

These believers where not expecting to see Yeshua immediate return. So many have not been waiting for 2,000 years for His immediate return. Yeshua distinctly told them they would be brought up before others and persecuted. Peter knew he would die before Yeshua returned. (2 Peter 1:14)

One of the signs that tell us that the time of Messiahís return is near: Israel again became a nation.

Matt 24:32-33 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near: So likewise you, when you will see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

More on this in chapter 24.
