Matt 20:1-16 "For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard. Now when he had agreed with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard. And he went out about the third hour and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, and said to them, 'You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right I will give you.' So they went. Again he went out about the sixth and the ninth hour, and did likewise. And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing idle, and said to them, 'Why have you been standing here idle all day?' "They said to him, 'Because no one hired us.' He said to them, 'You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right you will receive.' "So when evening had come, the owner of the vineyard said to his steward, 'Call the laborers and give them their wages, beginning with the last to the first.' "And when those came who were hired about the eleventh hour, they each received a denarius. But when the first came, they supposed that they would receive more; and they likewise received each a denarius. And when they had received it, they complained against the landowner, saying, 'These last men have worked only one hour, and you made them equal to us who have borne the burden and the heat of the day.' "But he answered one of them and said, 'Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Did you not agree with me for a denarius? Take what is yours and go your way. I wish to give to this last man the same as to you. Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish with my own things? Or is your eye evil because I am good?' "So the last will be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few chosen."
We are all of EQUAL VALUE to HaShem. No matter how early or late in life we came into the family. No matter Jewish or gentile. No matter how long or how hard we worked for Him. What matters, when it comes to the kingdom, is if you are faithful in the work the L-rd gives you to do.
Here we have those thinking what the master is doing is evil, when in fact it is good. When we go against the will of the Father and declare what is good and call it evil. Who then are the wicked ones?
The twentieth letter is Resh- wickedness; the wicked.
Matt 20:17-19 And Yeshua (Jesus) going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples aside on the road, and said to them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes, and they will condemn Him to death, And will deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify Him: and the third day He will rise again.
Here is a short-term prophecy. Yeshua gives details of the His arrest, trail, execution, and resurrection before they happen.
The authority to put anyone to death anyone in Israel had been taken from the Jewish people. The Roman Empire Kingdom crucified Yeshua. The Revived Roman Empire is rising again to eventually try to kill true believers.
Matt 20:20-22 Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came to Him with her sons, bowing down, and making a request of Him. And He said to her, "What do you wish?" She said to Him, "Command that in Your kingdom these two sons of mine may sit, one on Your right and one on Your left." But Yeshua (Jesus) answered and said, "You do not know what you are asking for. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink?" They said to Him, "We are able."
A cup of suffering - this was foretold by the prophets.
They say to him, We are able.
Matt 20:23 He said to them, "My cup you will drink; but to sit on My right and on My left, this is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared by My Father."
He knew their future. This demonstrates His Omniscience (All Knowing). James was beheaded at Jerusalem. John was exiled to the Island of Patmos and died there.
HaShem decides who sits where in authority.
Matt 20:24 And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation against the two brothers.
The other ten disciples where upset.
Who will be in authority?
Matt 19:27-28Then answered Peter and said to him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed you; what shall we have therefore? And (Yeshua) Jesus said to them, Verily I say to you, That you which have followed Me, in the regeneration when the Son of man will sit in the throne of His glory, you also will sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
