Revelation Chapter 4

Revelation 4:1-4 "After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter. And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald. And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold." (KJV)

The trumpet like voice is heard again calling to John "Come up here".

John is transported into heaven. This is symbolic of the "Rapture".

The Rapture is not to be confused with the Second Coming of Yeshua. The Second Coming happens at the end of the Tribulation period.

The "church" has been mentioned over and over again in chapters 1 thru 3. After John is transported into heaven the church is not mentioned again until Rev 22:16.

People who become followers of Y'shua during the "tribulation" period are not referred to as "the church" they are "saved Israelites" or "saved Gentiles".

There are those people who believe that "the church will go through all or part of the "tribulation" period. We, however, do not believe the scriptures support that position.

So the church is spared the coming wrath of G-d.

The rainbow around the throne tells us that there shall be mercy in the midst of judgment. The complete circle of the rainbow symbolizes the sovereignty of G-d. There will be many people who turn to Y'shua during this time. The total green rainbow is to remember G-d's grace.

The jasper and sardine stones: Jasper is a white stone and sardine is a red stone. On the breastplate of the High Priest there were 12 stones, one for each of the tribes of Israel. The first stone was a jasper stone to represent "Reuben" whose name meant, "Behold a son". The last stone was a sardine stone to represent "Benjamin" whose name meant "son of my right hand". This may be G-d's way of reminding us of:

1) Behold a son Y'shua's incarnation

2) Son of my right hand Y'shua's deity

The 24 seats with 24 elders: These elders represent "the church". The white garments symbolize that they have been justified from sin by the garment of His righteousness. They are wearing crowns of gold, which are the rewards they have received at the "Bema judgment" for their earthly service.

Rev 1:6 "And hath made us kings and priests unto G-d and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. (KJV)

Rev 5:10 "And hast made us unto our G-d kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. (KJV)

In 1 Chron. 24:3-19 The priests where divided into 24 "courses" or groups. The High Priest who symbolized "Y'shua, made the total number 25. This is probably why the number 24 is used.

They are pictured as seated showing they are resting from their earthly labors.

They will rule and reign with Y'shua for 1000 years.
