Romans 11:1-6 I say then, G-d has not rejected His people, has He? May it never be! For I too am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, of the tribe of Binyamin (Benjamin). G-d has not rejected His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says in the passage about Eliyahu (Elijah), how he pleads with G-d against Israel? "L-rd, they have killed Your prophets, they have torn down Your altars, and I alone am left, and they are seeking my life." But what is the divine response to him? "I have kept for Myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal." In the same way then, there has also come to be at the present time a remnant according to G-d's gracious choice. But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace.
G-d will not cast away Israel as a nation. (Many will come to Him during the Tribulation period.)
Sha'ul (Paul) gives an example of Eliyahu (Elijah) and how some had come to the L-rd.
Never compromise the Word of HaShem. Mercy and works for salvation represent two opposing systems when it comes to our justification. If one is against the mercy (grace) of G-d, this one is against the gospel.
Ephesians 2:8-9 For we are saved by mercy (grace) through faith (trust) it is a gift of G-d, not of works lest any man should boast.
Romans 11:7-8 What then? Israel has not obtained that which he seeks for; but the election has obtained it, and the rest were blinded (According as it is written, G-d has given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) to this day.
Of course the Good news is the death, burial, and resurrection of Yeshua. Which means eternal redemption is a gift according to what Yeshua has done for us. He did it all.
Most of Israel failed to see the light. I wish it were not true. This cannot be denied. This has hardened some of them. They were blinded because they would not accept it.
Yochanan (John) 9:39-41 And Jesus (Yeshua) said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind. And the P'rushim (Pharisees) which were with Him heard these words, and said to Him, Are we blind also? Jesus (Yeshua) said to them, if you were blind, you should have no sin: but now you say, we see; therefore your sin remains.
Romans 11:9-11 And David said, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumbling block, and a recompense to them: Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back always. I say then, have they stumbled that they should fall? G-d forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come to the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.
Tehillim (Psalms) 69:22-23 Let their table become a snare before them: and that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap. Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not; and make their loins continually to shake.
The table has reference to feasting. This tradition was not pagan because G-d instituted it. It did become a conceited thing, which deceived some of them of their true spiritual condition.
This can also be seen by some taking part in communion today that do not have a true understanding of the L-rd's supper.
To provoke them to jealousy - HaShem stated earlier and it is recorded by Moshe.
D'varim (Deuteronomy) 32:21 They have provoked Me to jealousy by what is not G-d; They have moved Me to anger by their foolish idols. But I will provoke them to jealousy by those who are not a nation; I will move them to anger by a foolish nation.
Romans 11:12-13 Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fullness? For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:
Sha'ul (Paul) is an authority on mercy by Yeshua and the Father. This happened in Acts 9 and is stated in
Galatians 1:11-12: Sha'ul (Paul), an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Yeshua HaMashiach, and G-d the Father, who raised him from the dead;)
Sha'ul (Paul) even confronted Kefa (Peter) with errors concerning this mercy (grace) in
Galatians 2:7-21 But on the contrary, seeing that I had been entrusted with the good News (gospel) to the uncircumcised, just as Kefa (Peter) had been to the circumcised (for He who effectually worked for Kefa (Peter) in his apostleship to the circumcised effectually worked for me also to the Gentiles), and recognizing the grace that had been given to me, Ya'akov (James) and Kefa and Yochanan (John), who were reputed to be pillars, gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, that we might go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcised. They only asked us to remember the poor-- the very thing I also was eager to do. But when Kefa came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned. For prior to the coming of certain men from Ya'akov, he used to eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he began to withdraw and hold himself aloof, fearing the party of the circumcision. And the rest of the Jews joined him in hypocrisy, with the result that even Bar-Nabba (Barnabas) was carried away by their hypocrisy. But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the Good News (gospel), I said to Kefa in the presence of all, "If you, being a Jew, live like the Gentiles and not like the Jews, how is it that you compel the Gentiles to live like Jews? "We are Jews by nature, and not sinners from among the Gentiles; nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Messiah Yeshua (Christ Jesus), even we have believed in Messiah Yeshua (Christ Jesus), that we may be justified by faith in Messiah (Christ), and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law shall no flesh be justified. "But if, while seeking to be justified in Messiah (Christ), we ourselves have also been found sinners, is Messiah (Christ) then a minister of sin? May it never be! "For if I rebuild what I have once destroyed, I prove myself to be a transgressor. "For through the Law I died to the Law, that I might live to G-d. "I have been crucified with Messiah (Christ); and it is no longer I who live, but Messiah (Christ) lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of G-d, who loved me, and delivered Himself up for me. "I do not nullify the grace of G-d; for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Messiah (Christ) died needlessly."
Yeshua's message of mercy through Sha'ul's (Paul's) letters is NOT only for Gentile believers but also for all believers. Sha'ul (Paul) kept the Sabbath and certain rituals not because it was required. He kept them for the sake of his brethren.
1 Corinthians 9:19-23 For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant to all, that I might gain the more. And to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to G-d, but under the law to Messiah (Christ), that I might gain them that are without law. To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. And this I do for good new's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.
If one is a new believer and the wants to keep the Sabbath, this is not wrong. But do not force this on others. (Let each be convinced in his own mind.
Romans 14:5-6 One man regards one day above another, another regards every day alike. Let each man be fully convinced in his own mind. He who observes the day, observes it for the L-rd, and he who eats, does so for the L-rd, for he gives thanks to G-d; and he who eats not, for the L-rd he does not eat, and gives thanks to G-d.
