Zechariah Chapter 14

Zechariah 14:1 Behold, the day of the L-RD is coming when the spoil taken from you will be divided among you.

Zechariah is talking about the coming of the Messiah. The Jewish people will make a peace treaty with the Anti-Messiah (Daniel 9:27). This is the foolish shepherd in Zechariah 11:15-17. In the middle of the 7-year covenant the Anti-Messiah will break his treaty with Israel and require all to worship him! (See Daniel 9:24-27; Matt 24:15; 2 Thess. 2:3,4)

The city of Jerusalem will be so overcome by the enemy that the spoil will be leisurely divided right in town. (Downfall)

Zechariah 14:2 For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city will be captured, the houses plundered, the women ravished, and half of the city exiled, but the rest of the people will not be cut off from the city.

This is recorded in Revelation as the Battle of Armageddon.

Rev 16:14-16 “for they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the whole world, to gather them together for the war of the great day of G-d, the Almighty. ("Behold, I am coming like a thief. Blessed is the one who stays awake and keeps his garments, lest he walk about naked and men see his shame.") And they gathered them together to the place, which in Hebrew is called Har-Magedon. (Armageddon)

The fourteenth letter is Num - stands for faithfulness; soul; downfall and rising again.

Zechariah 14:3 Then the L-RD will go forth and fight against those nations, as when He fights on a day of battle.

Notice who is doing the fighting!!!! It is the L-rd Himself!!!!

Zechariah 14:4 And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which is in front of Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be split in its middle from east to west by a very large valley, so that half of the mountain will move toward the north and the other half toward the south.

We are still talking about the L-rd here. His Feet (The L-rd’s feet) will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem. When He does, the mountain will split in two, leaving a huge valley running east to west.

Many Jewish people are buried on the Mt. of Olives waiting for this day when “the Messiah” comes and resurrects the dead.

This is another way we know that the Messiah will be G-d.

Daniel 12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

Will you be resurrected to enjoy everlasting life? Or will you be resurrected to suffer everlasting contempt (separation from G-d)? (Please e-mail us his_emissary@yahoo.com with any questions you may have about this. It is too important a subject to avoid or put off).

Hosea 6:2 After two days will He revive us: in the third day He will raise us up, and we will live in His sight.

If a day with the L-rd is 1,000 years, we are now in the 3rd day (or in the 3rd millennium) since He walked on earth. Hosea seems to be indicating that the resurrection of the faithful will be during that time.

Zechariah 14:5 And you will flee by the valley of My mountains, for the valley of the mountains will reach to Azel; yes, you will flee just as you fled before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the L-RD, my G-d, will come, and all the holy ones with Him!

The Jewish people will leave town quickly through this newly created valley, while the L-rd fights the battle for them.

The holy ones with Him - These are the believers in Yeshua who are already in Heaven!

Revelation 19:11-16 And I saw heaven opened; and behold, a white horse, and He who sat upon it is called Faithful and True; and in righteousness He judges and wages war. And His eyes are a flame of fire, and upon His head are many diadems; and He has a name written upon Him, which no one knows except Himself. And He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood; and His name is called The Word of G-d (YESHUA (See John 1:1 and 1:14)). And the armies, which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses. And from His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may smite the nations; and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of G-d, the Almighty. And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, "KING OF KINGS, AND L-RD OF L-RDS."

Again we see Yeshua HaMashiach is the L-rd.

Zechariah 14:6-7 And it will come about in that day that there will be no light; the luminaries will dwindle. For it will be a unique day, which is known to the L-RD, neither day nor night, but it will come about that at evening time there will be light.

The sun and the moon will not be necessary because Yeshua in all of His glory will illuminate the city.

In John 12:46 Yeshua said, I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believes on Me should not abide in darkness.

Joel 3:17 Then you will know that I am the L-RD your G-d, Dwelling in Zion My holy mountain. So Jerusalem will be holy, and strangers will pass through it no more.

Zechariah 14:8 And it will come about in that day that living waters will flow out of Jerusalem, half of them toward the eastern sea and the other half toward the western sea; it will be in summer as well as in winter.

The “eastern sea” is the Dead Sea and “the western sea” is the Mediterranean Sea.

The water will most likely flow through the newly created valley.

In Israel, many of the streams dry up in the summer, but this stream will flow year round watering the desert.

Isaiah 35:1 The wilderness and the solitary place will be glad for them; and the desert will rejoice, and blossom as the rose.

The L-rd refers to Himself as “the fountain of living waters”.

Jeremiah 2:13 For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

Yeshua gives living water to all who ask Him for it.

John 4:10; 13-14 Yeshua answered and said to her, "If you knew the gift of G-d, and who it is who says to you, 'Give Me a drink,' you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water." … Yeshua answered and said to her, "Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.

Zechariah 14:9 And the L-RD will be king over all the earth; in that day the L-RD will be the only one, and His name the only one.

The L-rd, the Messiah, will be King of the earth.
